Today we're releasing sanity-mcp, an open source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets AI agents interact with Sanity CMS directly.
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol is an emerging standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools and data sources. Think of it as a universal adapter that lets Claude, GPT, and other AI models access your systems without custom integration work.
What Can You Do With It?
With sanity-mcp, your AI assistant can:
- Query content using GROQ, Sanity's powerful query language
- Create and update documents like blog posts, products, or any content type
- Search across your entire content lake using full-text search
- Manage publishing workflows - publish drafts, unpublish content
- Explore your schema to understand what content types exist
Why We Built This
At Purple Horizons, we use AI agents extensively in our workflows. We wanted our agents to be able to manage our Sanity-powered blog without manual intervention. Now, this very blog post you're reading was created using sanity-mcp.
Get Started
The server is available on GitHub with full documentation:
github.com/Purple-Horizons/sanity-mcp
Install it with npm and configure your Sanity credentials. Your AI assistant will handle the rest.
What's Next
We're continuing to build tools that bridge AI capabilities with real-world business systems. If you're a Miami-based business looking to implement AI solutions, or interested in how AI agents can automate your content operations, reach out — we'd love to chat.
We also offer AI training workshops and can help you build custom AI agents for your specific needs.
