Christopher Columbus High School
STEM-focused AI training and buildathon for one of Miami's largest Catholic high schools.
The Challenge
Columbus High School has a strong STEM program and wanted to add AI to their curriculum in a way that matched their hands-on, project-based learning approach. They needed a program that could engage a large group of students with varying technical backgrounds.
The school was particularly interested in connecting AI skills to real-world applications and career paths—helping students see how AI fits into their future.
Our Solution
AI Buildathon Competition
We ran a competitive buildathon as part of their STEM week, with teams competing to build the best AI-powered solution to a real-world challenge. Prizes and recognition drove high engagement.
- Cross-grade team formation (9th-12th)
- Industry-inspired challenges
- Mentor support from tech professionals
- Shark Tank-style final presentations
Career-Focused Curriculum
We connected AI skills to specific career paths, showing students how AI is used in fields from medicine to finance to creative industries.
- AI in healthcare and medical research
- AI in business and finance
- AI in creative fields (art, music, writing)
- Emerging AI careers and skills needed
